soup and a pig

A day off....and I mean totally off!! No massage appts, no house cleaning, not laundry....well I did clean the toilet and sink, but I didn't count that. I went through my closet, too, and made a pile for Goodwill. I went to Body Works plus Abs at the gym this morning. Um, all I can say is that I am still alive and I know tomorrow I will feel that one! I miss my weekly Pilates that I used to take in AR. Working on looking into that, but not wanting to dish out the moula. For now, I can take free classes at the gym with our membership. So, I am leaving this morning to head out to the gym and get halfway down the block and there is a pitbull and a pig hanging out! I must say, I was a bit freaked out. I think I sat at the stop sign for about two minutes not sure what to think of what I was seeing. When I got home they were gone, thank goodness. I was so worn out from my class this morning that I ended up taking a nap instead of going to study like I had planned.

When Scott got home, he dropped me off at Barnes and Noble to study while he when to the gym. I made soup for supper. White bean chili to be exact. Why? I am still asking myself that. It is 106 degrees outside. I had soup out of a can for lunch too. Just easy I guess. I like to make soup because we can have it for days, but I got a bit of grief from the hubby about how it is too hot and not filling enough. I think he should start cooking, huh???

Eleven days until baby niece is due...I am counting down. I made her a blessing ring last week. Heidi wanted it to hang the cards from the showers on. I don't know how I am going to be able to wait two whole weeks to go and see her. I miss all of them tremendously. Today Scott was remembering when we were in AR two months ago for Memorial weekend. Andrew got a little sad when we had to go. I am sure it only lasted a few seconds, but we sure miss being around them. Scott was telling me that it is 10 degrees cooler there than it is here. I told him I am up for moving back! ;)

We had moving night tonight. It is official, Monday is not suspense/action movie night anymore. It is reserved for weekends only. Monday's are now for romance and comedy. Scott has the next two days off. He is going to take care of the license and registration on our "new" used car tomorrow.

Blessings Galore!

So many wonderful things have been happening to and for us lately that I don't even know where to start. The latest event was the sale of Scott's car. We posted it to www.craigslist.com (if you aren't familiar, you should get acquainted) this morning around 10:00 and I just got back from finalizing the sale! Scott parked it at the curb of The Vitamin Shoppe along a very busy street and it got many lookers today. But, the final buyers had seen it on Craigs List. You can buy and sell so many things on there. I even found my current job on Craigs List. It is huge here in Dallas/Fort Worth. This car thing was even better then the couch I sold in one day when we got married and condensed our furniture! You can find some great deals, but you have to be willing to go and pick the items up.

I am sure you are wondering why we sold Scott's car...well let me tell you. It is because we inherited his Memaw's car upon her passing this past April. Scott's dad just picked it up from Arkansas for us over July 4th weekend. It is a 1998 Buick LeSabre with about 20,000 miles on it. I'll take it! It will make a good family car for the future. For now, Scott can drive it to and from work. I wonder the gas mileage on that thing????

Still no word on Scott's job, but he has two applications in that are still in the running. One at TCU (Texas Christian University) and one at Texas Wesleyan University (his alma mater). TCU is literally 2 minutes from our house. I joked with him that if he gets that job he could get a bike and we could go down to one car! He didn't think that was a good idea. I still want to get bikes anyway, but back on subject. So, the job at TCU is for the Coordinator for Athletics Compliance. Not sure he is qualified, but he gave it a shot. TWU is hiring a Coordinator for Student Activities and Volunteerism. I think he has a good shot at it because he knows people who know people. That position will be filled closer to school starting. They are being picky on who they hire because the last gal got fired for stealing money....crazy!!! We are just waiting to hear.

I won't go into too many details about my job, but let's just say that I am looking for another one already. More on that to come.

I finally just had to break down and the pest control come today. I know, I know, I can't imagine what I am breathing, but it was getting out of control. I tried every natural product in the book to get rid of the roaches, then I bought poison traps and set them out. I think they all got together and laughed and laid more eggs after my attempts to rid of them. The other night I got home from work and jumped in the shower. I look up and crawling on the wall......well needless to say, I squealed again and jumped out of the shower and called Scott. He was on his way home from work. He came home and took care of it and I took my shower. Today the guy sprayed inside the house. He was going to bomb under the house, but the four or five kittens that have taken up residence in the crawl space were too scared to come out. The pest guy said if he sprayed under there that it would kill the kitties. So he didn't and I spent the next hour trying to find out who I need to call to have come and take these poor baby kittens away. I didn't get anywhere, but I will look harder tomorrow. Surely, the humane society can take them away. I just feel sad for them. They are so malnourished ans scared to death of us.

We are making plans to go to Arkansas after baby Joely is born. Can't wait!!!

Other than that, it is hot, hot, hot outside. I think I could roast a marshmallow in the sun sitting on my front porch!

Petco, where the pets go!

That is all that comes to mind right now. You would think that we were running a pet shop around here. Some are nice and some are grossing me out!!! First off, we have about five baby kitties that have taken up residence in the crawl space under our house. I think that we made the mistake of giving them milk one evening and it has been all downhill from there. Scott changes their water dish on the front porch daily, but we have definitely refrained from feeding them anymore. They are cute though. I am not a cat lover, so they will remain outside pets.

Next, there is the roach problem. I would like to think that we are fairly clean and tidy people around here, but we have had roaches in this house ever since we have lived here....the first and second time. Let me tell you, I am seriously grossed out by this. The other night I couldn't sleep so I was in the spare room in the recliner on the computer and what do you know, a roach is crawling on the table next to me. That sucker could move. The second I squealed and jumped up from the chair, he had taken my seat, crawled across the chair and unto the bookshelf. It was about 1:00am and I made Scott get up to kill it....ewww! And last but now least, we now have a lizard that lives in our bedroom. I saw him for the first time tonight. He is just a teeny little fellow and Scott was making fun of me for getting all freaked out about it, but seriously folks....who wants a lizard in their bedroom???!!!

I guess that is what you get for living in an old house. I have decided to look for newer houses on my house hunt these days. I like the feel and character of the old house, but I could do without the cracks, creaks, and lack of insulation.

I will keep you updated on any more pets that migrate our way. And, thank goodness our gnat is is not longer a problem....

thank you jenae

Thanks to Jenae, my sister's husbands sister who lives just down the road in Arlington, we have fun pictures!!!

She is so good at what she does.....take a look!

good friends and good times

Another day off! I should be studying right now, but I have found many things to keep me preoccupied. I will head out when I finish the update...

Scott is still on the job search and has submitted a few resumes. Work is going well for me. I am starting to get the hang of things and finding things to do when I get bored. I don't have to ask people anymore about what needs done. Yesterday was supplement inventory and it took us all day to do and that killed a chunk of time. The only complaint I still have is the concrete floor I stand on all day. My sciatic pain has been seriously acting up since I started work. I usually get time to go in and stretch on a ball in the yoga room. I need a good massage and chiropractic treatment, it has been a few weeks.

Today I made popsicles from my morning smoothie. Scott won't taste my smoothies. He said the one I made yesterday looked like motor oil....haha...it had rice milk, spinach, protein powder, blueberries, strawberries and banana in it. The spinach makes it dark. I like it anyway. I made the same one today and had a little left over so I froze the pops. I hope they are yummy....better for you than ice cream I guess, which I seem to crave when it is soooo hot outside.

Friday night we went to a wedding of some friends of ours. They got married at the historical YWCA in downtown Fort Worth. It is about 10 minutes from our house. It was fun...pics below.

I am still working on a fun overnighter for our anniversary. The Inn on Lake Granbury (www.innonlakegranbury.com) is still in the running as long as they still have rooms available by this coming Friday (payday) so I can pay in advance for the first week in August. It looks pretty neat and we both got off the 5th and 6th so we can go. Our anniversary isn't until the 12th though. I am also trying to plan a trip to see Heidi. It may have to wait a few weeks after the baby comes. I really want Scott to come too. It is just so hard for him to get time off work right now. Hopefully in a month or two, he will be in a different job.

Jimmy and Trish's wedding.

Francesca is hangin' out with me.

Jonathan and Marissa getting groovy on the dance floor.

Scott and I dancing.

The lovely Marissa and Miss Francesca.

Scott is bustin' out the moves.

And, as promised, photos of the potential house we may buy. We still have not seen the inside yet. These pictures don't do it much justice, as the landscaping needs a bit attending to. It does have sprinkler system though. And if you can't tell, it is on a corner lot. The picture right below is a view from the front and the one below that is from the side. The two car garage is accessed from the side street.

still standing

I must go to bed soon, but feel the need to blog a bit first. Sorry, no pics of the house again today, but I will post them soon.

I have found it very interesting that now that I have a new full-time job, I get more done than ever! Sounds crazy, I know, considering that before working away from home, I was at home all day every day. Well I am not sure what got into me last Thursday. I got up at 5:00am in order to leave for work by 6:30. Returned home from work at 4:45p.m. Left the house again an hour later to work on two clients in their home, went to the grocery store, came home and did dishes, cleaned the bathroom, and did laundry all before Scott returned home from work at 10:00p.m.! Today, my day off, I faxed resumes for Scott, got groceries, worked on two clients, did laundry, and cleaned the bathroom again. To some of you, this may not sound like a lot, especially for those of you who have kids and are laughing at me right now! Until just recently it was not uncommon for me to still be in pj's at noon trying to muster the energy and strength to do the previous evening's supper dishes. That is what a "real" job will do to you. I have yet to figure out where I am going to fit in two very important aspects of my day, working out and studying. It seems as though my schedule on the days that I work has been set to 11-8. That is not an easy shift to work. Can't do much before or after that shift. I am sure I will get into a great routine just about the time I become the 7-4 person!

In other really great and exciting news, it looks as though we may have our wedding album just in time for our two year anniversary....just don't ask... Those of you in Mac, the parents will be getting a duplicate of mine so be sure to take a sneak peak.

And, it looks like I am getting a trip planned to Arkansas real soon! Tomorrow is one month till Joely is due, however, Heidi is thinking it may be a bit sooner that the 8th. Can't wait to see that cutie pie! Scott and I are trying to plan an over nighter at a bed and breakfast in Granbury, TX for our anniversary on August 12th. A client of mine says it is a great get away. All these events are happening at the same time so I hope I can manage all this time of from work.

Must go to bed. Stayed up way too late last night doing absolutely nothing.

crazy, irritating, annoying GNATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, it is 11:48p.m. and I am really unsure why I am about to go ahead and post, but here it goes anyway. I have been up working on Scott's resume tonight. I know, I am a good wifey. Actually, he is pursuing other options at the moment. There are several reasons for this pursuit. One being the salary that he discovered was not where he was thinking for the promotion he was anticipating in a year or two. There are other reasons too, like the hours and standing all day. Mostly, I think that after calculating a budget, it just doesn't look like we could cut it on his salary alone at any point. So, the job search begins. I just finished editing his resume and cover letter for a position with Texas Wesleyan (his alma mater). Not too much to edit, as his resume is pretty up to date. He is applying for Coordinator of Student Activities and Volunteerism. He thinks that quite possibly if he gets a job there that he could help out with the basketball team...just JV for now. Tomorrow he is going to put in a call to his old coach. If he gets the job he is applying for, he will report to his old assistant coach...funny. Anyway, he is kind of excited about a new opportunity. And, at the same time, he is freaking out a bit. He doesn't like change too much. He also is a very loyal and dedicated employee and making a change this early in the job he has now is not going to be that easy for him. We would appreciate the prayers.

Can I cut in here and say that we have been having a gnat problem in our house for a few weeks now. ARGGGGG!!!! They are flying around my face right now and I could scream!!! Anyone have any natural remedies to get rid of these extremely annoying creatures!!!???? Ok, sorry for the side note....

As for my job, it is going pretty good. It has it good and bad sides to it. I stand on stained concrete for about eight hours a day. I occasionally will steal a seat for a second here and there, but it has not been friendly on by back and feet for sure. Note to self: buy a good pair of shoes when I can afford it. Another downer is that since the store has only been open since Feb/March, it isn't hoppin' and I can get a bit bored. I can only straighten vitamins so many times. We end up doing a lot of cleaning and chatting at work. We have make-up and some of the girls will do makeovers on each other. I haven't ventured there yet. It gets better at noonish when the lunch crowd comes into the cafe. I usually try and steal the position of cashier at that time so that two hours just fly by. It has been hard for me to resist eating there every day. The cilantro hummus is delish!!! Tomorrow is my day off, well I do have a massage appointment scheduled for the afternoon, but hopefully I can get cleaning and groceries done before she comes. My next day off is Friday. And, again, it really isn't a day off, I am going to the spa in Aledo for a few appointments and we have a wedding to go to in the evening. I am not exactly sure why I think that I need to work 7 days a week. I hardly have time to study these days. I am going to burn out fast if I keep it up. No lectures please! I already know.....

In other Reasoner news, Scott and I have been stalking the house we may buy. Friday we went by (for the fourth time) and took pictures and I had every intention of posting them tonight, but maybe tomorrow..... It is 3/2/2 and it has an extra room off the kitchen that has a door leading outside.....like a potential massage room. We haven't actually seen the inside yet, but the outside is brick and it was built in the 60's I believe. It has a sprinkler system which Scott is pretty excited about that possibility. It has a little backyard, and it faces north which is good. Our house now faces west. It has zero insulation and the doors are black. Can you say sauna???? Needless to say, our electric bill is getting a bit out of control with this 100+ degree weather everyday. We try and keep the house at 78 and about 5 fans going. Does that defeat the purpose of saving energy?

Oh, and the 4th of July....yes, we went to Dallas to Scott's step brother's house. He lives across from a country club and we got to watch the fireworks from there. They were pretty spectacular. I must say, though, that I would have much rather have joined the Derby party!!! Miss you all!!!! Maybe next year.

I have to add that I am super jealous that my family is in Colorado right now enjoying the scenery and taking in the mountain air! Wish I was there, again, maybe next year.

I guess I better sign off for tonight.
